Caspofungin is an antifungal agent. Caspofungin is a form of fungicidal which is useful in treating aspergillosis and cadidiasis. Caspofungin is given via intravenous route.
Caspofungin will weaken the cell wall of the fungus. Caspofungin will block and inhibit the synthesis of 1,3 beta D glucan which form the component of the fungal cell wall. The half life of caspofungin is 9 hours.
The common side effects of caspofungin are rashes, headache, gastrointestinal discomfort and dizziness.
